Left for uni yesterday only to find my passenger side window smashed and my car trashed.

Took it in for a service and get the window fixed today.

Came back to my dog having run away and he's not wearing a collar, or chipped, and he has no road sense, and I don't have a car to go looking either so it's all on foot and I'm so scared he's dead or something and shit.

Fuck life. I want my dog back.

<lj-embed id="1" />

Finally. Now let's see actual planning and infrastructure be implemented to ensure that the Aboriginal communities have the ability to support themselves. I'm glad that though the current media, people are beginning to understand (or remember) that the stolen generation wasn't just about taking children away from where they were neglected and placing them into better homes-- children who were loved and cared for were taken away from their families, simply because of the colour of their skin. The stolen generation was only partly about doing what was best for the children, it was mostly a thoroughly misguided attempt to breed out the 'black' from Australia by raising them as British Christians and pairing Aboriginal females only with white males.

I can only imagine what Hedland is like right now after today's events. I remember being just ten and outraged at John Howard for refusing to apologise or make attempts to reconcile when the rest of the nation was trying. Rudd's speech was well delivered and well thought-out. He did not apologise on behalf of all Australians, but on behalf of the past governments. I feel content to be an Australian with a Prime Minister who listens to his country and delivers on his policies. He might be holding a pointless 1000 person brainstorm in the near future (which makes him look like a bit of a fuckwit) but he isn't a xenophobic bigot like Howard has always been.

The Labor and Liberal parties working together? The concept is foreign to me after the rivalry in the past few years. I've no doubt they'll make more progress in three years on issues concerning indigenous Australians than has been made in the past twelve. I'm hopeful.

Yay.
